In a robust crackdown on the sand, moram, and stone mafia, Odisha police have launched rigorous raids across the state.
Director General of Security Yogesh Bahadur Khurania informed the media about the ongoing operation and the significant strides made so far.
The special operation commenced on March 7th and is a joint effort involving the district administration, mines department, and police department. As of now, 456 cases have been registered against the sand, moram, and stone mafia, with 524 tractors, trucks, tippers, and lorries loaded with sand being seized. Additionally, 360 individuals have been arrested, and over 100 people have been issued notices.
DGP Shri Khurania emphasized the continuous nature of this campaign, urging local residents to provide information on sand and gravel smuggling to the police. He assured the public that their cooperation would be instrumental in reducing the activities and violence of the sand, moram, and stone mafia in the state.
