Odisha Plus 2 Admission First Selection Merit List 2025 Announced; Ravenshaw Leads the Pack

The Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE), Odisha, on Monday unveiled the much-anticipated first selection merit list for Plus 2 admissions for the academic year 2025–26.


Out of 4,46,205 applicants, a staggering 4,13,804 students secured seats in this initial round, marking an impressive selection rate of 92.75%.

Cuttack’s prestigious Ravenshaw Higher Secondary School stood out as the top preference among aspirants, notching the highest cut-off marks in all three major academic streams:

Top Cut-offs by Stream:

Arts:

  • Ravenshaw HSS, Cuttack – 81.33%
  • Govt. HSS, Rourkela – 77.33%
  • BJB HSS, Bhubaneswar – 76.86%

Science:

  • Ravenshaw HSS, Cuttack – 91.83%
  • BJB HSS, Bhubaneswar – 89.40%
  • FM HSS, Balasore – 87.50%

Commerce:

    • Ravenshaw HSS, Cuttack – 80.20%
    • Govt. HSS, Rourkela – 78.67%
    • BJB HSS, Bhubaneswar – 73.50%

Ravenshaw’s dominance was closely followed by Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar (BJB) HSS in Bhubaneswar and Government HSS in Rourkela, both of which posted competitive cut-offs across the board.

Arts Stream Attracts Majority of Applicants

Stream-wise selection data revealed a continuing trend with the Arts stream leading in enrollment:

  • Arts: 2,64,766
  • Science: 1,17,089
  • Commerce: 20,552
  • Upashastri: 6,811
  • Vocational: 4,586

Despite the encouraging numbers, 32,401 students remained unselected in this round but still have chances through the upcoming Second Selection and Spot Admission phases.

Key Dates to Remember:

  • July 8–14 (up to 6 PM): Reporting and admission for First Selection applicants at respective Higher Secondary Schools.
  • July 8–15 (up to 6 PM): Admission data updation and error correction by schools in SAMS e-Space.
  • July 9–15 (up to 6 PM): Students admitted in the first round may submit slide-up requests for better preferences.
  • July 21 (by 3 PM): Second Selection Merit List to be published.
  • July 23–28: Reporting and admission for Second Selection applicants.
  • July 30: Choice locking for Spot Admission opens in Student Login.
  • August 1: Last date for submitting the choice for Spot Admission.
  • August 7: Publication of Spot Selection list.
  • August 8–13: Admission and data update for Spot Selection applicants.
  • July 24: Commencement of Class XI across Odisha.

Students are advised to regularly check the SAMS Odisha portal (www.samsodisha.gov.in) for the latest updates to avoid missing deadlines.

As admissions heat up, Ravenshaw’s top performance sets an inspiring benchmark for the academic year ahead.
