The Odisha government is planning to demolish the old OCAC building in Bhubaneswar to pave the way for a cutting-edge Technology Business Tower, in a move aimed at accelerating the state’s digital transformation and fostering innovation.
According to The New Indian Express, the proposed tower—estimated to cost between Rs 100 crore and Rs 200 crore—will span nearly 3 lakh square feet and cater to IT, ITeS, ESDM companies, as well as startups and innovation hubs.
The new facility will not only house the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC)—the technical directorate of the state’s Electronics and IT Department—but also provide high-tech infrastructure for emerging tech firms. Designed to be a hub of collaboration, research, and enterprise, the tower is expected to include incubation zones, co-working spaces, and networking areas.
In addition to the Bhubaneswar tower, the selected project management agency (PMA) will support OCAC in developing seven new tech business parks across Odisha, including a major facility in Keonjhar over 4.56 acres with 1.5 lakh sq ft of built-up area.
This initiative is seen as a cornerstone of Odisha’s broader vision to position Bhubaneswar as a technology-first economy. Officials believe the new infrastructure will attract startups, boost investments, and enhance the state’s profile as a digital innovation hub.
