A high-level review meeting on the progress of national highway projects in Odisha was held today at the conference room of Lok Seva Bhawan.

Chaired by Minister of Law, Works, and Excise Prithviraj Harichandan and Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management Suresh Pujari, the meeting assessed the status of 14 ongoing national highway initiatives.

The discussions covered key projects, including the 21 km Cuttack-Kandarpur road, the 111 km Capital Region Ring Road, and the Mohana-Koraput road. Other projects reviewed included bypasses and roads in Sambalpur, Borigumma, Jaypur, Titilagarh, Dharmagarh, Rairangpur, Phulbani, Nabarangpur, and Jharsuguda. Additionally, the construction of bridges over the Indravati, Nagavali, and Tel rivers was evaluated.

Focus areas included land acquisition and compensation processes, resolving complexities related to forest land acquisition, and the relocation of utilities such as electricity, drinking water, and telecom infrastructure. Emphasising the need for swift execution, Ministers Harichandan and Pujari directed the concerned district collectors and departmental officials to complete the required tasks within stipulated timelines to accelerate the projects.

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue and Disaster Management, Arabinda Kumar Padhee; Additional Chief Secretary of Energy, Vishal Kumar Dev; Principal Secretary of Works, Sanjay Kumar Singh; and Principal Secretary of Forest, Environment, and Climate Change Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma.

Senior officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), and the Works Department were also present. District collectors and senior officials from the relevant districts participated virtually.
