The Department of Personnel and Training has announced the appointment of Shalini Pandit, a distinguished 2001-batch IAS officer of the Odisha cadre, as Joint Secretary in the Department of Financial Services (DFS) under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India.

The appointment is effective from the date she assumes charge and is set for a tenure of five years or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.

Ms. Pandit, currently serving as Secretary in the School and Mass Education Department, will also retain additional charge as Secretary for the Mission Shakti Department. Known for her impeccable work ethic, integrity, and widespread respect within her cadre, Ms. Pandit brings a wealth of experience to her new role.

Throughout her career, Ms. Pandit has held significant positions, including Secretary of the Health & Family Welfare Department and Mission Director for the National Health Mission. Her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic was particularly commendable, earning her recognition for steering Odisha through one of its most challenging health crises.

Her appointment to the DFS is expected to leverage her extensive administrative expertise and leadership skills, further strengthening the department’s initiatives. As Ms. Pandit steps into this pivotal role, her track record suggests she will continue to make impactful contributions to public service.
