The Odisha government has increased the monthly remuneration of Junior Teachers (Schematic) working engaged in Primary and Upper Primary Schools under the Samagra Sikshya Scheme from Rs 11,100 to Rs 16,000.
An official order regarding this has been issued by the School and Mass Education Department, Govt of Odisha on Wednesday.
“Government after careful consideration has been pleased to enhance the monthly remuneration of the Junior Teachers (Schematic) engaged in Primary and Upper Primary Schools of the State under the Samagra Sikshya Scheme from Rs 11,100 to Rs 16,000. This revised rate of remuneration will take effect from the date of issue of this Resolution. This has been concurred in by the Finance Department in this Department file bearing No. SME-EL2- EL2-0094-2017”, the notification reads.
This move aims to attract and retain talented educators in government schools. The revised pay structure is part of the government’s efforts to improve the quality of education and ensure better financial support for teachers. The announcement was made as part of a broader initiative to enhance educational infrastructure and outcomes in Odisha.
School and Mass Education Minister Shri Nityananda Gond has thanked Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi for increasing the salary of junior teachers (Schematics) of primary schools.
The Minister thanked the Chief Minister through a post on social media X and said that this decision will empower teachers and strengthen primary education.

On January 16, 2025, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi decided to increase the monthly salary of teachers in this category and approved the proposal in this regard.
This will lead to qualitative improvement in primary education. The 13,740 teachers in this category in the state will also benefit.
