Bhubaneswar: The day after the Delta Plus variant detected in the state, Odisha’s health minister has written to his counterpart at the Centre seeking to change the vaccine supply ratio for government and private hospitals of the state.
In his letter to Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Odisha’s Naba Kishore Das requested him to change the vaccine ratio for government and private hospitals in the state from 75:25 to 95:5.
Das also mentioned how the vaccine supply guideline will force to reduce 25 per cent of the state’s requirement.
“According to changed vaccine supply guideline, private hospitals will able to procure 25% of the vaccines from the manufacturers directly and our state has only seven private hospitals, getting vaccines. As we have fewer private hospitals in the state, we won’t able to get an adequate amount of vaccines,” das said in his letter.
“If the new guidelines will be followed, then Odisha will be forced to reduce 25 per cent of the state’s vaccine requirement. Hence we request you to change the vaccine ratio for government and private hospitals in the state from 75:25 to 95:5,” he said.
He urged the Centre to act immediately on this issue as the state requires adequate doses and assured continued cooperation to beat Covid-19.
