Chief Secretary Anu Garg chaired the second secretary-level meeting at Kharavela Bhavan today, with secretaries from all departments attending.
The meeting placed special emphasis on implementing drinking water projects as a top priority.
Drinking Water Projects in Focus
Garg highlighted that public dissatisfaction over drinking water issues requires immediate attention. She directed secretaries to review drinking water facilities during field visits and to closely monitor delayed mega projects. Departments were asked to propose new measures for the upcoming full-fledged budget.
Budget and Revenue Review
Officials discussed budget expenditure, revenue collection, and pending legal amendments. The Chief Secretary noted that only 50 per cent of the current budget has been spent so far and instructed departments to accelerate spending by the end of January. She also advised measures to strengthen revenue collection.
Regular Review Mechanisms
The meeting decided that district collectors will hold video conferences with secretaries on the 16th of every month. Secretaries will not convene other meetings on that day to ensure focused discussions. Additionally, single-window meetings will be held on the third Tuesday of each month, while groundwork review meetings will take place every Saturday.
Upcoming Investors’ Meet
Garg informed that a two-day Investors’ Meet will begin in Kolkata on Friday. Chief Minister, Industry Secretary, and Chief Secretary will attend the event to attract investment opportunities for Odisha.
