With the world-famous Puri Rath Yatra set to take place on June 27, 2025, the Odisha government has intensified preparations to ensure a seamless and safe festival.
A high-level meeting was chaired by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja at Lokseva Bhawan, where officials discussed key aspects of crowd management, security, and infrastructure readiness.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Satyabrata Sahu, Director General of Police Y.B. Khurania, and representatives from various departments. Discussions focused on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for crowd control, traffic management, and emergency response.
To enhance security, the installation of 343 CCTV cameras at strategic locations, including Badadanda (Grand Road), Puri Beach, and Gundicha Temple, has been proposed. Additionally, an Integrated Command and Control Center will be set up to facilitate real-time monitoring and coordination among departments.
Infrastructure improvements, such as road repairs, parking facilities, and fire safety measures, are also underway. The traditional Ratha Katha Anukula (wood-cutting ceremony) has commenced, marking the beginning of chariot construction.
With millions of devotees expected to attend, the Odisha government is committed to ensuring a safe and well-organized Rath Yatra. Officials emphasized the importance of interdepartmental coordination to manage the massive influx of pilgrims and tourists.
