True greatness is found in serving others, said Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati while addressing the “Pride of Odisha Samman Utsav – Season 2.0”, organised by Argus News here on Saturday.
As the chief guest, the Governor presented honours to individuals who have made outstanding contributions across diverse fields of society. In his keynote address, he described the event as a powerful recognition of courage, compassion and commitment — a tribute not just to awardees but to the silent changemakers whose efforts are strengthening the soul of Odisha.
“While news often focuses on conflict and challenges, a media house choosing to celebrate positive social impact is truly inspiring,” the Governor said, commending Argus News for conceptualising and successfully executing the initiative. He added that by honouring unsung heroes, the channel has demonstrated how mass media can become a strong force for societal change.
Dr. Kambhampati expressed concern over the declining sense of empathy in today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world. “People are often so busy chasing success and recognition that they overlook ethical values and social responsibility. In moments of distress, some prefer to record videos rather than extend help,” he observed.
He highlighted pressing challenges such as climate change, crimes against women and children, and social inequalities, stressing that while the government continues its efforts, every citizen must also shoulder responsibility. “Service is the supreme duty,” he said, describing those who live by this principle as society’s real heroes.
Congratulating the awardees, the Governor noted that their selfless work in education, social security, environmental conservation and care for the neglected has brought hope, dignity and opportunities to countless lives. “Your efforts send a powerful message that kindness and humanity are still alive and growing in our society,” he told them, wishing them continued success and urging others to draw inspiration from their example.
Argus News CEO Prakash Sahu also addressed the gathering, while Executive Editor Durgashish delivered the welcome speech.
