Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has now extended the COVID testing deadline till April 30 from March 31.
The state government adopted the step and decided to scale up its testing counts after noticing a surge in COVID-19 cases in several other states including Maharashtra.
State Health & Family Welfare Additional Chief Secretary Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra has informed that “The COVID infections in Odisha is under control, however, the populace and the authorities need to remain on alert. Maharashtra has already been put under the restricted state category besides four other states. We will take the opinion of the Directors of RMRC and ILS and decide to put some other states under this category. We want to make sure that people visiting from outside the State are not infected with Coronavirus.”
Besides, six senior doctors including a Special Secretary have been entrusted with the responsibility to supervise COVID testing in 30 districts of Odisha, informed Pradipta Mohapatra, The Additional Chief Secretary in Health department.
Meanwhile, Odisha’s vaccination graph has climbed steeply in the last few days.
