The Electronics & Information Technology (E&IT) Department of the Government of Odisha, through the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC), organised a specialised AI sensitisation and capacity-strengthening workshop for Director-level officers across government departments.
The initiative demonstrates the state’s commitment to modernising governance and enhancing citizen service delivery through technology.
Principal Secretary of the E&IT Department, Vishal Dev, inaugurated the workshop. In his opening remarks, he highlighted Odisha’s proactive stance on emerging technologies. “AI is no longer a futuristic concept but a present-day necessity for efficient governance. The next decades will be of intelligence,” he stated. Furthermore, he added, “By equipping our government officials with the right tools, we are ensuring that the Odisha AI Mission translates into faster, more transparent, and citizen-centric governance.”
The intensive session moved beyond theory and aimed to demystify AI terminology while providing hands-on experience. Consequently, the agenda covered key use-cases such as drafting and communication, search, chat with PDF, deep research, and data analysis. Participants then engaged in breakout sessions to test practical approaches for implementing these use cases.
Additionally, the workshop emphasised the importance of “Responsible AI.” It outlined ethical guidelines and data privacy standards to ensure safe and effective adoption of AI tools.
Through this initiative, the Odisha AI Mission continues to position the state as a leader in the AI revolution. Ultimately, by fostering innovation within the bureaucracy, the mission seeks to improve the “Ease of Living” for citizens through tech-driven governance.
