Odisha Economic Survey 2024-25 Report Released; Check Key Takeaways

The Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of Odisha at current prices is estimated to be ₹9.5 lakh crore in the 2024-25 financial year, a 10% increase from ₹8.6 lakh crore in the 2023-24 fiscal year.

This was revealed by the Odisha Economic Survey 2024-25 tabled in the State Legislative Assembly on Saturday.

Economic Growth: The economic growth in real terms is estimated at 7.2% in 2024-25, higher than the all-India growth rate of 6.4%.

Per Capita Income: The per capita income in Odisha has increased by 10.6% to ₹1,82,548 in 2024-25, which is 8.8% less than India’s per capita income of ₹2,00,162.

Agriculture:

  • Food Grains: Production reached a record high of 143 lakh metric tonnes (MT) in 2023-24.
  • Rice: Odisha is the fifth-largest rice producer with a production increase from 97.6 lakh MT in 2019-20 to 115.4 lakh MT in 2023-24.

Vegetables: Odisha is the seventh-largest vegetable producer with a 5.2% share in national production.

Dairy and Poultry:

  • Milk Production: Increased by 6.8% to 26.4 lakh MT in 2023-24.
  • Egg Production: Increased to 372.3 crore in 2023-24, with a per capita availability of 72 eggs.

Fisheries: Odisha is the fourth-largest fish producer in India, with production increasing from 8.2 lakh MT in 2019-20 to 11.2 lakh MT in 2023-24.
