The final day of Matsya-Pranee Samavesh Odisha – 2026 witnessed a spectacular dog show at Janata Maidan, leaving the audience enthralled.
Dogs of various breeds showcased their skills with remarkable energy. Some moved gracefully at a slow pace, while others impressed with speed and agility. Several demonstrated thief-catching techniques, while others excelled in high jumps and hurdle performances. Their obedience, discipline, and unique behaviour styles fascinated spectators, proving once again why dogs are considered man’s most loyal companions.
The show featured 65 dogs from 17 breeds, including German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Labradors, Huskies, Poodles, Miniature Pinschers, Cane Corsos, Pomeranians, Caravan Hounds, Great Danes, Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, Beagles, Akita Inus, Spitz, and French Bulldogs. The Odisha Kennel Club President, Subrata Prusti and trainer Dillip Sahu coordinated the event.
The Department of Fisheries and Animal Resources Development, in collaboration with the Odisha Kennel Club, organised the exhibition. Suresh Kumar Vashisth, Principal Secretary of the department, inaugurated the event as the chief guest. At the closing ceremony, participants received honours for their contributions.
Senior officials, including Vijay Amruta Kulange, Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Rina Mahapatra, Additional Secretary, Badal Mohanty, Personal Secretary, and Vivekananda Samal, Discipline Secretary, attended the show.
The vibrant performances and enthusiastic crowd highlighted the deep bond between humans and dogs, while also showcasing the growing interest in pet care and training in Odisha.
