Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi conducted a comprehensive review of the Energy Department’s initiatives at the Lok Sabha Bhavan today.

With summer approaching, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of preemptive measures to address potential power problems.

In the meeting, discussions focused on ensuring a consistent power supply throughout the hot season and increasing participation in the P.M. Surya Ghar Yojana. The Chief Minister stressed the need to utilize at least 85% of the department’s budget.

CM Majhi highlighted that power cuts are a common issue during the summer due to overloading. To counter this, he underscored the necessity of upgrading feeders and transformers and establishing a robust backup system. He suggested collaborating with various power generation companies to meet peak-hour demand and mentioned the possibility of seeking assistance from the Central Government.

To further enhance consumer convenience during power cuts, the Chief Minister directed that the Quick Response System be fully operational. Additionally, he instructed power distribution companies to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the summer.

The Chief Minister also urged Divisional Secretaries to prevent unnecessary power wastage in government offices by adopting sensor-controlled electrical appliances. This initiative aims to promote energy conservation.

To boost participation in the P.M. Surya Ghar Yojana, the Chief Minister called for a large-scale information campaign.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Nikunja Bihari Dhal, Principal Secretary Energy, Vishal Dev, and senior officials from the Energy Department, as well as CEOs of the state’s four power distribution companies.
