Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan informed the Assembly that Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi received 13,358 public grievances over the past one and a half years.
Out of these, 12,432 grievances were resolved, reflecting a resolution rate of 91 per cent.
Harichandan presented the data on behalf of the Chief Minister, highlighting the government’s efforts to address citizen concerns.
The minister stated that the state’s Janasunani portal recorded 14,41,832 grievances till November. District Collectors, SPs, BDOs, and Tehsildars jointly resolved 13,07,253 cases. The remaining 1,34,579 complaints, considered complex, are currently under process.
Opposition BJD’s Chief Whip Pramila Mallik questioned the delay in resolving grievances from areas outside Bhubaneswar. She demanded a detailed list of complaints received at the block and tehsil levels. Mallik also criticised the poor functioning of the grievance portal, claiming that the website often fails to open. She asked whether the government would set a fixed timeframe for resolving complaints.
Responding to the Opposition, Law Minister Harichandan said joint hearings are being conducted across districts. He added that the participation of MLAs in these hearings could help accelerate the resolution process.
The Assembly session highlighted both the achievements and challenges of the grievance redressal system. While the government emphasised its success rate, the Opposition pressed for greater accountability and efficiency at the grassroots level.
