Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has put forward nine key proposals for the overall development of Odisha during his participation in the pre-budget consultation meeting with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for significant investment in basic infrastructure, particularly in road and rail connectivity, economic corridors, port-based industries, and the tourism sector in Odisha. He urged the Union Finance Minister to ensure better allocation in the 2025-26 budget for the infrastructure sector.
CM Majhi highlighted that the central government had approved several road and rail projects in the previous year’s budget and stressed the importance of infrastructure and urban development in Odisha during the upcoming budget. He noted, “Rapid urbanization will boost economic activities and create employment for the people.”
In addition, the Chief Minister requested central assistance to develop economic corridors and industrial townships in the western and southern regions of Odisha to foster growth. He also sought a special package of ₹10,000 crore from the Centre to enhance the tourism sector in the state, stating, “Our state has immense potential in tourism.”
Furthermore, Majhi called for improved budgetary allocations for drinking water, health, and education sectors in Odisha. He also urged the Union Government to include 11 additional blocks in the aspirational block program for Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts.
