Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, President of India Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid homage to Dr Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, on his birth anniversary.
Taking to Twitter, the Odisha CM wrote: ” Humble tributes to great freedom fighter and first President of India, Bharat Ratna Dr. #RajendraPrasad on his birth anniversary. His Gandhian principles, humility, leadership in drafting our Constitution, and contribution towards nation building will be remembered forever.”

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said;
“On the occasion of his birth anniversary, I pay my heartfelt respect to former President Bharat Ratna Dr. Rajendra Prasad. In the war for independence and the drafting of the constitution, he played an unequalled role. His life, which is based on the principles of simplicity and lofty thought, will continue to inspire his countrymen.”

Born in Bihar, Rajendra Prasad is the only Indian president to have served two terms.
Dr Rajendra Prasadwas the president of the country from 1950 to 1962. He remains the longest serving president of the country till date.
