As election preparations intensify in Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi’s aircraft and helicopter underwent a detailed inspection on Thursday during his visit to Nuapada district ahead of the upcoming by-election, officials confirmed.
According to the Nuapada district administration, the inspections were conducted by teams from the flying squad and video surveillance unit to ensure full compliance with the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) regulations. The checks are part of the Commission’s broader vigilance measures designed to promote transparency and accountability during the election campaign.
“These inspections are routine but crucial. They help maintain transparency and ensure all political leaders adhere to election norms regarding transportation and logistics,” a senior district official stated.
The move forms part of the ECI’s standard operating procedure to monitor the movement of political figures and campaign materials during sensitive pre-poll periods.
Notably, on the same day, the aircraft of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudeo Sai, who was in Nuapada for campaign activities, was also inspected by authorities. Similar checks have previously been conducted on aircraft used by Odisha opposition leader and former CM Naveen Patnaik and BJP national vice-president and Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda.
The district administration reiterated its commitment to closely monitoring election-related movements and maintaining transparency throughout the by-election period.
