Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who also holds the Finance portfolio, presented the Odisha Annual Budget 2026-27 today at 4 PM in the Odisha Legislative Assembly. Ahead of the presentation, the CM emphasized that the budget goes beyond mere numbers and allocations, offering a comprehensive roadmap for inclusive and equitable growth across the state.
Taking to ‘X’, Majhi stated, “With the divine blessings of Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath and the abiding faith of the people of Odisha, we are advancing steadily towards the vision of a Viksit and Samruddha Odisha. The Odisha Budget 2026–27 lays out a clear roadmap for inclusive growth, reflecting the collective aspirations of annadatas, Narishakti, youth, and every stakeholder in the state’s progress.”
The Chief Minister further highlighted the principle of Antyodaya, noting that the Budget aims to ensure that development reaches the last mile, translating into dignity, opportunity, and shared prosperity for all citizens. “This Budget reaffirms our commitment to inclusive development and emphasizes welfare for farmers, empowerment of women, and meaningful opportunities for the youth, while strengthening infrastructure and overall economic growth,” he added.
This year’s Budget is estimated at Rs 3.10 lakh crore, an increase from Rs 2.90 lakh crore in the previous financial year. Odisha has consistently maintained the highest capital outlay as a share of its state income for three consecutive years. According to the Odisha Economic Survey 2025-26, capital spending is projected to reach 6.6% of gross state domestic product (GSDP), making the state a leader in India in terms of investment in roads, bridges, irrigation, and other public infrastructure.
Officials stated that the Budget reflects the government’s continued focus on inclusive growth, economic prosperity, and social welfare, aligning with the aspirations of all sections of society. By balancing fiscal prudence with targeted investments, Odisha aims to further strengthen its infrastructure, boost the economy, and improve the quality of life for its citizens.
