In a moment of pride for Odisha, the Aska Notified Area Council (NAC) in Ganjam district has clinched the second spot in the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25, India’s premier cleanliness survey.
The award was presented by the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu to Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra during a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on July 17, 2025.
Today, at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, Aska MLA Saroj Kumar Padhi and NAC Chairperson Binita Swain showcased the prestigious trophy and certificate to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
The Chief Minister lauded the achievement, congratulating the MLA and Chairperson for their relentless efforts in transforming Aska into one of India’s cleanest cities. He urged them to sustain the momentum and aim for the top spot in future surveys.
The Swachh Survekshan, conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, evaluates cities on cleanliness and sanitation parameters. Aska NAC stood out in the 20,000 to 50,000 population category, earning recognition for its exemplary waste management, sanitation infrastructure, and community-driven cleanliness initiatives. This accolade highlights Odisha’s growing commitment to the Swachh Bharat Mission and sustainable urban development.
Chief Minister Majhi emphasised the importance of collective efforts in maintaining cleanliness, stating, “This achievement reflects the dedication of Aska’s residents and administration. Let’s strive for first place next year!”
