Bhubaneswar: On Monday, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presented the state’s budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year, totaling ₹2.9 lakh crore. This marks his first full budget since assuming office on June 12, 2024.
A significant highlight of the budget is the introduction of the ‘Shree Jagannath Darshan Yojana,’ aimed at enabling underprivileged devotees to visit Puri for a free darshan of Lord Jagannath and partake in Mahaprasad. The state has allocated ₹30 crore for this initiative.
According to the Chief Minister, Lord Jagannath is the soul of the culture of the state. Every Odia desires to have a glimpse of Lord Jagannath in his lifetime.
Emphasizing the cultural importance, CM Majhi stated, “Lord Jagannath is the soul of our state’s culture. Every Odia desires to have a glimpse of Lord Jagannath in their lifetime.”
Furthermore, the government has sanctioned ₹225 crore for the integrated development of the Maa Tarini Temple complex in Keonjhar. Commitments have also been made towards the development of Mahima Gadi at Joranda, including the construction of a grand Sunya Mandap.
