Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed deep sorrow over two heart-wrenching incidents that claimed the lives of three individuals, including two children, in Khordha and Sambalpur districts. He announced ex-gratia assistance totaling ₹12 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for the bereaved families.
🚧 NH-16 Mishap Claims Mother-Daughter Duo
In a tragic road accident near Patrapada on National Highway-16, Rebati Raul and her eight-year-old daughter Jagruti Raul from Jankia, Khordha, lost their lives after being hit by a speeding vehicle while crossing the highway. The incident occurred on Saturday evening. Jagruti died on the spot, while Rebati succumbed to her injuries at AIIMS Bhubaneswar on Monday. Her three-year-old son survived the accident.
CM Majhi extended heartfelt condolences and announced ₹4 lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased, totaling ₹8 lakh.
🏫 Sambalpur Schoolboy Dies in Bridge Mishap
In a separate incident, Dipu Yadav, a student of Budharaja Upper Primary School in Sambalpur, died after a piece of iron fell on him during railway bridge repair work. The accident occurred just outside the school premises on Monday. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he was declared dead by doctors.
The Chief Minister sanctioned ₹4 lakh ex-gratia for Dipu’s family and assured that safety protocols around construction zones near schools would be reviewed.
