Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated the students of the World Skill Center Bhubaneswar (WSC) who have secured placement in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
These 27 students including 4 girls have been offered appointments through a special placement drive conducted by Emerill Services, a UAE-based integrated services company. The placement interview was held on Saturday at the WSC campus in Bhubaneswar.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik hailed the success of the students of World Skill Center in securing overseas placement. He talked about the positive outcome of the state government’s efforts in imbibing future skills to Odisha’s youth and fostering employment through the ‘Skilled in Odisha’ vision.
The campus selection drive at the World Skill Center is going on for students of various programs. In this recent drive, 27 students were selected by Emrill Services in UAE for various roles. The successful candidates include 11 from Mechanical and Electrical Services, 8 from Electrical Technology, 2 from Air Conditioning and Refrigeration and 4 from Mechatronics. Moreover, 2 candidates who have recently completed 6 months of paid internships in Singapore were also placed.
Several national and international organizations are invited to conduct campus selection at World Skill Center Bhubaneswar. Notably, Tata Steel hired 45 candidates in the ongoing drive, with 20 from Mechatronics and 19 from Electrical Technology in the current batch while 6 students of the previous batch have been hired. Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), a part of the Tata Group, employed 13 candidates for various positions. Similarly, multinational steel conglomerate Arcelor Mittal provided job opportunities to 17 candidates from the World Skill Center, including 9 from Mechanical and Electrical Services and 8 from Electrical Technology.
Additionally, students have secured a placement at Schneider, Techmake Electric, SMS Group, and Honda Group. In total, 110 students from the World Skill Center have received job offers from different national and international organizations in recent time.
The placement wing at WSC is actively working to ensure that meritorious students can secure employment opportunities with national and international companies. Alka Misra, Chairperson of Odisha Skill Development Authority and CEO of World Skill Center congratulated the students and appreciated the centre’s officials for the achievement.
Students who have completed 2-year training courses from various public and private ITIs or 3-year training courses from state polytechnics are undergoing one-year advanced diploma training in various subjects at the World Skill Center. As the students are given industry-ready skills in various subjects at World Skill Center along with adequate life skills, companies are happy to recruit WSC candidates for various operations.
