Havildars, Constables, and Sepoys in Odisha are set to receive an extra month’s salary at the updated pay scale, a motorcycle allowance of Rs.1,000, and a clothing and shoe allowance of Rs.10,000, announced Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the 45th Annual Celebration of the Havildar, Constable, and Sepoy Mahasangh in Cuttack on Monday evening.
Previously, Havildars and Constables were only entitled to a bicycle allowance of Rs.300 and a clothing and shoe allowance of Rs.5,000, according to official sources.
Majhi also promised to take the necessary steps to hire Class IV employees and allocate funds for the construction of a new Mahasangh building in Bhubaneswar.
He praised the constables and sepoys, calling them the backbone of the police department, and acknowledged their commitment to duty in all weather conditions, including heat, rain, cold, and fog.
The Chief Minister stressed the state government’s dedication to improving police infrastructure and personnel to enhance the effectiveness of the police service.
He issued a stern warning against disorder and corruption, stating that those engaged in such activities would be dealt with severely.
Majhi reaffirmed the Odisha Police’s motto of “Service and Safety” and encouraged Sangh workers and members to perform their duties with responsibility and empathy.
He revealed plans for every police station in the state to receive motorcycles, with Rs.35 crore earmarked in the supplementary budget for this initiative.
Furthermore, he announced an allocation of Rs.299 crore for the establishment of additional Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in the state and the provision of 649 vehicles for the police force.
The Director General of Police (DGP), Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, emphasized that the strength and prosperity of the police force rely on the active cooperation of constables and sepoys.
Khurania called for unity and joint efforts to advance the Odisha Police.
