In a high-level preparatory meeting for the upcoming Rath Yatra, Odisha Chief Secretary Smt. Anu Garg issued a series of directives to ensure the smooth execution of the festival.
She instructed all departments to submit their preparation reports six months in advance, identifying past errors and outlining corrective measures to avoid repetition.
To maintain steady progress, Smt. Garg announced that the state government will conduct monthly review meetings to monitor arrangements. She emphasised the importance of essential public services, including healthcare, clean drinking water, sanitation, and strict quality monitoring.
The meeting also focused on logistical challenges such as crowd management and traffic control to safeguard devotees. Officials discussed strategies to strengthen coordination among departments and ensure the timely implementation of plans.
The session was attended by the Director General of Police, the Director General of Fire Services, and the Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), along with secretaries from multiple departments. Their presence underscored the state’s commitment to a coordinated effort for the grand event.
Smt. Garg reiterated that Rath Yatra attracts lakhs of devotees from across the world, making flawless planning and execution a top priority for the government.
