Chief Secretary Anu Garg chaired a secretary-level meeting at Kharavela Bhavan in Bhubaneswar on Thursday morning, her second such meeting since assuming office.
Secretaries from all departments attended to review development projects, budget expenditure, and the filling of vacant government posts.
The meeting highlighted the urgent need to fill vacant positions across departments. The Department of Home Affairs issued a letter identifying priority posts requiring immediate appointments. Garg directed officials to ensure appointments follow the Chief Minister’s instructions and state government directives. She stressed that key positions must not remain unoccupied.
Officials reviewed departmental budgets allocated during the previous session. They assessed completed work and identified areas needing further attention. They also discussed strategies to achieve objectives within allocated funds while maintaining efficiency.
The state government set a target to generate nearly 1.5 lakh government jobs within two years. Initiatives are already underway, demonstrated by 13 Nijukti Melas and the distribution of appointment letters to candidates.
The meeting aimed to ensure systematic filling of vacant positions and steady progress of developmental projects. The discussions reinforced the government’s goals of improving governance efficiency and boosting employment generation across Odisha.
