The Odisha Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has approved eight key proposals aimed at strengthening infrastructure and enhancing public welfare.
Among the major decisions, the government has sanctioned two new road development schemes to improve connectivity and disaster resilience across the state.
One of the flagship initiatives, the Mukhyamantri Sadak Yojana – Disaster Resilient Roads, will focus on constructing 500 kilometers of disaster-resistant roads over the next five years. With an estimated budget of ₹1,000 crore, the project aims to ensure uninterrupted connectivity in disaster-prone areas, facilitating emergency services and minimizing disruptions during calamities.
Additionally, the Constituency-Wise Road Allocation Scheme has been introduced to upgrade rural roads across 142 constituencies in Odisha. The government has earmarked ₹426 crore for this initiative, which will be implemented over three years. The scheme is expected to enhance access to education, healthcare, markets, and tourism hubs, benefiting local communities.
Apart from infrastructure development, the Cabinet has also approved a 50% rebate on bus fares for women, transgenders, students, divyangs, and senior citizens under the Mukhyamantri Bus Seba. This move aims to make public transport more accessible and affordable for vulnerable groups.
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja emphasised that these initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to inclusive development and disaster preparedness.
The approved proposals are expected to boost economic growth, improve mobility, and enhance the quality of life for Odisha’s residents.
