A low-pressure system has developed over the Bay of Bengal, triggering widespread rainfall across Odisha for the next four days.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclonic circulation active over the northern Bay of Bengal has intensified into a low-pressure area and is expected to become more concentrated within 24 hours. The system may move toward North Odisha and the adjoining West Bengal coasts within the next 48 hours.
Orange Warnings have been issued across the state, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. Red Alerts are active for districts such as Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar, anticipating rainfall between 7 to 20 cm and wind speeds reaching 30–40 km/h.
Reports suggest early morning rains have already begun in several regions. Districts such as Koraput and Malkangiri are also on high alert. Sundargarh, Jajpur, Bhadrak, and others are under Yellow Warning, forecasting moderate rain and thunderstorms.
Residents are advised to stay indoors, secure their property, and remain cautious as weather conditions evolve. Authorities have initiated disaster preparedness protocols to mitigate possible disruptions.
