Bhubaneswar: The Odisha BJP has strongly condemned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his alleged ‘gundagardi’ (hooliganism) in Parliament, which reportedly resulted in injuries to BJP MPs Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput.
The incident occurred during a protest at the Makar Dwar entrance of Parliament, where tensions between opposition and NDA MPs escalated.
National BJP Vice-President Baijayant Panda, along with other party leaders, criticized Gandhi’s actions, calling them irresponsible and unacceptable. “Such conduct by the Leader of the Opposition is shocking and is unacceptable in a democracy. Prayers for the speedy recovery of my Parliament colleagues,” Panda stated.
Both injured MPs were admitted to the ICU with head injuries. Pratap Sarangi, a senior BJP leader from Odisha, suffered injuries on his left eyebrow and required stitches. Mukesh Rajput also sustained significant injuries.
The scuffle has intensified the already heated political climate in Parliament, with BJP leaders demanding accountability and condemning the opposition’s behavior.
