40 foreign delegates from 12 countries visited the Lok Sabha Secretariat in New Delhi on behalf of the Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies (PRIDE) and attended a program in the Secretariat Conference Hall here today.

Speaker of the Odisha Assembly, Smt. Surama Padhy, inaugurated the meeting. She welcomed the delegates and provided detailed information about the Assembly’s glorious history and its functioning.

The Speaker emphasised that the parliamentary functioning of the Vidhan Sabha is the best in India. In the first year of the current 17th Legislative Assembly, a total of 62 days of sessions have been completed. Additionally, all operations of the Odisha Assembly have been digitised and computerised, with ongoing efforts to transition to a paperless environment through the NeVA project.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, who attended the event as the guest of honor, informed the delegates about the rules and procedures of the Odisha Assembly. He also suggested that the exchange of parliamentary and cultural traditions among people from different countries should be strengthened.

Another guest, Honorable Member of Parliament Sujit Kumar, discussed Indian parliamentary traditions and procedures.

The event was attended by several officials, including the Secretary of the Odisha Assembly, Satyabrat Rout; the Director of Research of the Assembly, Trivikram Pradhan; Prashant Mallick, Director of PRIDE; and other officers from the Assembly.
