Odia comedian and YouTuber Ashish Kumar Das, popularly known as Mr. Gulua, admitted to an extramarital affair during a heated dispute with his wife, Barsha.
The controversy began with a public quarrel in a market and quickly escalated into a scandal involving allegations of infidelity, domestic violence, extortion, and threats. Gulua confessed to the affair while defending himself against Barsha’s accusations.
Barsha, a regular performer in Gulua’s comedy skits, alleged that she endured physical and mental abuse for over a year. She claimed he beat her, evicted her from their home, and maintained relationships with multiple women across Odisha. She also said she holds photos and videos proving his infidelity.
Gulua countered by accusing Barsha of initiating violence and demanding Rs 1 crore, later reduced to Rs 50 lakh. He alleged she sent threats through hired goons. Gulua stated he filed a police complaint at Balianta station over extortion and life threats and has gone into hiding for safety. He further claimed Barsha pressured him into marriage and denied him intimacy afterwards.
The scandal has dominated Odisha’s entertainment circles and social media platforms. Once known for their joint comedy skits, the couple now stands divided, exposing the pressures digital influencers face when private disputes spill into the public domain.
Police have not yet commented on the complaints. Both sides vow to present evidence in court, signalling that the matter is headed for legal proceedings. The fallout continues to unfold, drawing widespread attention across Odisha.
