A migrant worker from Odisha’s Budhikomna village under Komna police limits died in Telangana after suffering a heart attack while working at a food company.
The deceased, Parshuram Bag (46), was employed at Jaya Chikis Co. Pvt. Ltd., Mangalpalli village, Ibrahimpatnam mandal. Family members said he collapsed during duty hours due to a sudden heart attack. He was reportedly a diabetic patient.
Parshuram had migrated to Telangana for livelihood after failing to secure employment locally. His death has left behind his wife, children, and younger brother Bhabanishankar Bag.
After a post-mortem at a government hospital, his body is being brought back to his native village by ambulance.
Locals expressed concern that despite Nuapada being declared a “dadan-free district,” thousands of workers continue to migrate outside Odisha. Official labour department records show only 2,026 registered migrant workers, but intellectuals estimate 40,000–50,000 workers from the district are employed in other states.
The incident has once again highlighted the challenges faced by Odia migrant workers, including a lack of timely medical support when health emergencies occur far from home.
