Bhubaneswar: An army officer from Odisha allegedly committed suicide at a railway station in Pune city of Maharashtra on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Brigadier Anant Naik from Bhubaneswar.
Brigadier Naik was the head of the department of hospital administration at Armed Forces Medical College and used to live in the quarters in Pune whereas his family is residing in his hometown.
As per available information, the officer, donned in his uniform, reached the Pune railway station in his official vehicle and asked his driver to wait outside while he entered the railway station.
While at first he tried leaping in front of the Chennai Express which was passing from the railway station, failing to do so, he jumped in front of Udyan Express which was moving from Solapur to Bengaluru and killed himself.
The police has not found any suicide note.
Meanwhile, the exact reasons thatforced the officer to adopt the extreme step is yet to be known.
