Patna: As many as nine persons were killed and several others went missing after a jeep, in which they were travelling in, fell into Ganga River from a pontoon bridge at Danapur near Patna on Friday morning.
As per reports, the incident took place while 15 people were returning from Asimpur village that falls in a riverine belt to Danapur after a pre-marriage function when the driver lost control over the wheels at the floating bridge and the vehicle fell into the river.
On receiving information, police reached the spot and launched a rescue operation. Reportedly, nine bodies were fished out from the river while several others were missing.
The rescue operations are on with the help of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams, sources said.
