Hollywood actor Nicole Kidman has publicly addressed her divorce from country music star Keith Urban for the first time, sharing that she is focusing on family and moving forward positively after their separation.
In a recent interview with Variety, Kidman reflected on the challenging period in her personal life over the past year, revealing that she withdrew from the public eye as she navigated the breakup.
“I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good,” Kidman said when asked how she has been coping in the months following the separation.
Divorce Finalised in January 2026
Kidman and Urban officially finalized their divorce on January 6 in a court in Nashville, just over three months after they publicly announced their split in September 2025.
The couple had been married for 19 years and share two daughters — Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15.
Despite the separation, Kidman emphasized that maintaining a strong family bond remains her priority.
“I’m grateful for my family and keeping them as is while moving forward,” she said, adding that she prefers not to discuss further details out of respect for everyone involved.
Actress Says She ‘Went Quiet’ Last Year
During the interview, Kidman also acknowledged that the past year had been emotionally difficult.
Responding to a comment that each year seems like “the year of Nicole Kidman,” the actor said the previous year was different.
“Well, not last year. I was quiet. I had other things going on. I was in my shell,” she said.
A Relationship That Spanned Nearly Two Decades
Kidman and Urban first met in 2005 and married in 2006. Their marriage lasted nearly two decades before the actor filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences.
According to reports by People magazine, the former couple agreed to waive both child support and spousal support, with each party covering their own legal costs.
Their parenting arrangement focuses on maintaining a stable and nurturing environment for their daughters while continuing to co-parent respectfully.
Life After the Split
Since the divorce, Kidman has been spending more time with her daughters and focusing on upcoming projects, including a sequel to the film Practical Magic and the Prime Video series Scarpetta.
The actress was previously married to Tom Cruise from 1990 to 2001 before beginning her relationship with Urban.
