New Delhi: Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested NIA’s most wanted terrorist Shahnawaz alias Shafi Uzzama. Reportedly, NIA had placed a reward of Rs 3 lakhs on the arrested terrorist Shahnawaz, he was wanted in the Pune ISIS case. Shahnawaz, an engineer by profession, is a resident of Delhi, had escaped from Pune police custody and was living in Delhi. Delhi Police Special Cell has also detained some other people.
Shahnawaz, a mining engineer, had fled to the National Capital Region (NCR) and was residing under a false identity.
Notably, further investigation underway, informed Delhi Police.
In an effort to combat terrorism in India, the Delhi Police Special Cell, Pune Police, and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) launched raids in certain areas of Delhi and Pune. The joint operation aims to locate and apprehend three suspected ISIS terrorists. The NIA has even announced a reward of Rs 3 lakh for each of these terrorists.
Two other suspected terrorists from Delhi, Abdullah alias Diaperwala and Rizwan, are also being actively searched for in the raids. Abdullah, who operates a diaper shop in Pune, and Rizwan, a resident of the Daryaganj area in Central Delhi, have had rewards of Rs 3 lakh placed on their heads by the NIA. Intelligence officials suspect that all three are members of an ISIS sleeper cell.
