The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a supplementary chargesheet against C.P. Moideen alias Girish, a senior operative of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), for conspiring to wage war against the Government of India.
Moideen, who was arrested by Kerala Police in August 2024 and formally taken into custody by the NIA in January 2025, is accused of orchestrating Maoist operations across the Western Ghats Special Zonal Committee (WGSZC). Following the September 2023 arrest of Central Committee Member Sanjoy Deepak Rao, Moideen assumed leadership of the WGSZC and expanded its guerrilla units.
The chargesheet details Moideen’s involvement in recruiting for the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA), spreading Maoist ideology, and engineering violent activities targeting security forces in the Kerala–Karnataka–Tamil Nadu tri-junction. His rise to power within the Maoist ranks and orchestration of regional operations marks a crucial revelation in India’s ongoing battle against left-wing extremism.
Originally investigated by Telangana Police, the case was taken over by the NIA to uncover the broader network supporting Maoist revival and urban insurgency.
The arrest marks a significant milestone in India’s national security landscape, reaffirming efforts to disrupt armed insurgent operations and safeguard public order.
