The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has directed the Director General (Investigation) to form a team and conduct a detailed probe into the alleged suicide of a Nepali student at KIIT University in Bhubaneswar. The NHRC has instructed officials to submit the investigation report by March 10.
Following a complaint regarding the student’s death, the NHRC has taken up the matter seriously. The investigation team will gather evidence, interview witnesses, and analyze circumstances surrounding the alleged suicide.
The complainant has also leveled serious allegations against Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS). The institution is accused of exploiting tribal children, violating their human rights, and being involved in illegal land acquisitions.
These allegations have added a new dimension to the investigation, prompting the NHRC to broaden its inquiry beyond the student’s death to include potential human rights violations at KISS.
The NHRC’s directive emphasizes a thorough and impartial investigation, with a detailed report expected by March 10. Further action will be based on the findings of the investigation team.
