The Odisha government has revamped the school dress code and ID card colour for primary students.
From Class 1 to Class 8, students will now sport saffron-colored identity cards featuring critical details like name, class, date of birth, roll number, and contact information.
According to a directive sent to all District Education Officers, the revamped student kit includes one T-shirt, track pants, a cap, shoes, and two pairs of socks — all at a subsidised rate of Rs 500 per student. This is part of the state’s wider initiative to standardise and enhance student welfare infrastructure.
Interestingly, this is not the first colour revamp introduced by the BJP government. Earlier changes saw uniforms for Class 9 and 10 students shift from hunter green to maroon pants and brown shirts.
