BJD chief Naveen Patnaik has appointed party leaders Amar Patnaik and Sanjay Dasburma to attend a critical delimitation meeting in Chennai on March 22, 2025.
This meeting, the first convened by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK leader M.K. Stalin under a Joint Action Committee, aims to unify opposition against the proposed delimitation process based on Census data post-2026. Stalin, a vocal critic of the Centre’s plans, has called the process a “blatant assault on federalism” and advocated for the use of the 1971 Census for a fair and balanced approach.
The delimitation, focused on redrawing constituency boundaries for the Lok Sabha and Legislative Assemblies, has sparked national debate. Several political leaders from across states, including those from Odisha, Punjab, and West Bengal, have been invited to join forces against the Centre’s decision.
BJD’s involvement in this meeting highlights its stance on the issue amid growing discussions around the federal structure and representation.
