The Nuapada by-election has emerged as a significant challenge for the three major political parties—BJP, BJD, and Congress—with their top leaders fully engaged in efforts to secure victory for their respective candidates.
Door-to-door canvassing combined with grand processions is intensifying the campaign atmosphere, and the momentum is expected to build further in the coming days.
Voters in Nuapada are eagerly anticipating visits from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and opposition leader Naveen Patnaik. According to party sources, Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to address a public meeting in Komana on November 3.
Additionally, BJD leaders have proposed a roadshow for him from Khariar Road to Nuapada on November 7, though this program has not yet been finalised. It has been confirmed, however, that Naveen will make two visits to Nuapada during the campaign.
In the lead-up to Naveen’s visits, party workers are actively sharing various AI-generated videos on social media platforms. Naveen himself has previously announced his intention to visit the constituency. Party sources indicate that these visits are aimed at safeguarding the BJD’s stronghold in the by-election.
On November 3, he will participate in the public meeting in Komana to rally support for the party’s candidate. Meanwhile, it is speculated that Chief Minister Majhi may visit Nuapada toward the final stages of the campaign.
Notably, candidates from all three parties are in full campaign mode. For BJP’s Jay Dholakia, his family members and relatives are leading the charge, with several MLAs and ministers establishing a strong presence in the area. BJD’s Snehangini Chhuria has the backing of the party’s top brass, including senior and youth leaders who are conducting marathon campaigns. Congress candidate Ghasiram Majhi is supported by PCC president Bhakt Charan Das and other leaders, with star campaigners expected to join the fray soon.
