The Sub-Postmaster of the Bangomunda sub-post office in Bolangir district, Narendra Bhoi (54), was found dead under mysterious circumstances within the office premises.
According to sources, Bhoi had been staying inside the post office building due to the unavailability of rented accommodation after joining the post on July 14.
Colleagues attempted to enter the office around 10 AM on Friday, but the door remained locked despite persistent knocks. Upon alerting local police, officials entered the premises and found the Sub-Postmaster lying lifeless on a cot. He was rushed to Kantabanji hospital in an 108 ambulance, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The exact cause of death remains unclear, and the police have seized the body for post-mortem examination. Bangomunda SDPO Lakshmi Narayan Marandi and Officer-in-Charge Sanjeev Pradhan have reached the scene and are conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the death.
Sources indicate that Bhoi was expected to shift to a rented house on the same day. However, fate intervened before he could move out of his temporary office lodging.
