New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry on Tuesday clarified that there will be no mixing of the Covid-19 vaccine in India and is not part of the protocol yet.
The Ministry also said that as per the SOP, both the vaccines–Covishield and Covaxin have to be administered for both doses.
Addressing a presser here, Dr. VK Paul, Member (health) Niti Aayog and a key member of the government’s Covid-19 task force, said the government has not made any change in the vaccination schedule for Covishield and Covaxin.
“I would like to clarify that there is absolutely no change in the two-dose regimen that is being followed in India for Covishield and Covaxin. The second dose of Covishield will be given after 12 weeks and the second dose of Covaxin will be given after 4-6 weeks after the first dose,” Dr. VK Paul said.
“The current SOP is that if someone has received Covaxin as the first dose, their second dose too will be Covaxin. The same is applicable for Covishield too. This is our SOP. Please stick to it,” he said.
