Miss Mexico, Fatima Bosch, crowned Miss Universe 2025, revealed that she has been receiving death threats and online abuse since her win.
She disclosed on Instagram that critics questioned her victory, claiming other contestants were more deserving.
The Miss Universe Organisation (MUO) has faced turbulence this year following leadership changes that sparked political strife. Just days before the competition, Bosch walked out of the venue with other contestants after pageant director Nawat Itsaragrisil insulted her by calling her a “dumbhead.”
Bosch acknowledged the hate but asserted that it would not define her. “These are some of the messages I’ve received these past few days. What must be in a person’s heart for them to wish harm upon someone they don’t even know? Thank God my values and self-esteem are strong, and this doesn’t break me,” she wrote.
She emphasised that she speaks not only as a beauty queen but as a woman confronting violence rooted in hatred and misinformation. Bosch added, “Although these attacks hurt, they do not define me. What does define me is my strength, my integrity, and the love I have for my country and for the women around the world whom I represent.”
Bosch clarified that the digital attacks, mockery, and campaigns against her dignity will not silence her. She pledged to use her platform to empower women globally, reminding audiences that “women are resilient, capable, and powerful.”
She thanked her supporters, saying, “Your light sustains me. Your trust lifts me. Your affection reminds me that I am not alone.”
MUO National Director Nikhil Anand released a statement backing Bosch, praising her “dedication and poise.” He urged audiences to support her and assured that MUO is addressing critical feedback to strengthen the organisation.
