Puri: While the pilgrim town, Puri has been put on high-security alert in view of President’s scheduled visit, miscreants hurled bombs at a house in Matimandap sahi under Town police limits, a few meters away from the Shree Jagannath temple, on Tuesday.
Miscreants hurled two bombs back to back before fleeing the spot. The entire scene has been captured on CCTV camera installed in one’s house in the lane.
The reason of the bomb hurling has not yet been cleared. A team of police led by city DSP has launched an investigation by examining the CCTV footage.
A suspect has been detained by Town police. He is being questioned, police said.
According to reports, the bombs were hurled at the house of lawyer Subhasis Mohanty.
A few months back, a similar incident had taken place near Srimandir. Miscreants had hurled a bomb at a youth over a previous rivalry. Police had nabbed the miscreants within 48 hours.
It is pertinent to note, police have stepped up security in the tourist town in view of President Droupadi Murmu’s visit on November 10.
