A young man was severely injured after being stabbed in broad daylight at Baripada’s Station Bazaar on Wednesday.
The incident occurred while the victim, reportedly an employee at a foreign liquor outlet, was out shopping for groceries.
According to eyewitnesses, the assailant—believed to be an acquaintance—engaged the victim in a brief conversation before launching a sudden and violent attack. The victim sustained serious injuries to his hands and torso and was swiftly rushed to Baripada Medical College in critical condition.
The injured youth has been identified as Muna Yadav, hailing from Sasaram in Bihar. He had been working at the liquor outlet in Baripada for the past two months. Locals acted promptly to help him and alerted authorities immediately.
Police from Baripada Town Station arrived at the scene and have begun an investigation. As of now, the motive behind the stabbing remains unclear, and the attacker is reportedly on the run.
This incident comes close on the heels of another violent episode—a recent shooting in the same locality—which has sparked concern among residents over the rising threat to public safety.
