A serious case of ragging has shaken PM SHRI Government High School, Khunta, in Mayurbhanj district.
Senior hostel students allegedly harassed juniors, sparking outrage among parents and locals.
Reports revealed that three Class VII students were playing behind the hostel premises when senior students targeted them. Victims said two Class IX students dragged them out and forced them to kneel as punishment. Parents rushed to the hostel after watching the video. Children disclosed that not just three, but nearly eight to nine students faced similar punishment and physical assault regularly. One father stated that Class XI students forced juniors to kneel simply for playing behind the hostel building.
The revelations triggered anger among guardians, who accused seniors of repeated ragging incidents. Parents expressed concern over the lack of supervision and demanded strict action to ensure safety inside the hostel.
Health and safety concerns deepened as more victims came forward with disturbing claims. The incident raised questions about monitoring and accountability in school hostels.
Parents urged authorities to launch a thorough inquiry and implement measures to prevent recurrence. Officials are expected to investigate the allegations and take steps to protect hostel inmates from further harassment.
