Puri: The revered Puri Srimandir witnessed an overwhelming influx of devotees as the New Year celebrations continued for the second consecutive day.
Following the massive turnout on New Year’s Day, where over five lakh devotees thronged the 12th-century shrine to offer prayers to Lord Jagannath, the temple saw another large gathering today.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) had anticipated the surge in visitors and implemented extensive measures to ensure a smooth and orderly darshan. Barricades were set up, and a ‘No Vehicle Zone’ was declared from Market Square to the temple to manage the crowd effectively. Additionally, 60 platoons of police forces were deployed to maintain law and order, ensuring the safety and security of the devotees.
Devotees from across the country and beyond flocked to the temple town, eager to seek blessings from the Holy Trinity. The SJTA’s meticulous planning and coordination with local authorities facilitated a seamless experience for the visitors, allowing them to participate in the rituals and offer their prayers without any major disruptions.
The temple administration expressed gratitude to the devotees for their cooperation and adherence to the guidelines, which played a crucial role in managing the large crowds. As the New Year festivities continue, the spirit of devotion and reverence remains palpable in Puri, making it a memorable start to 2025 for all who visited the sacred shrine.
