More than 48 hours have passed since a 22-year-old woman was abducted in broad daylight from the Kaptipada market in Mayurbhanj district.
Anjali Behera, a resident of Sudusudia village, had accompanied her parents to the market on Friday evening. As she stepped out of a shop, four masked men on motorcycles suddenly appeared and forcibly took her away. Her parents attempted to intervene but were threatened with death by the abductors.
The family lodged a written complaint at the Kaptipada police station immediately after the incident. However, police have yet to locate Anjali or identify the culprits. The family continues to visit the station, pleading for swift action.
This brazen abduction has sparked concern among residents, raising questions about public safety and law enforcement response in the region.
